    Цветница е ден на цветята, младостта и възраждането на живота в природата. Според родната статистика на Цветница празнува една пета от българите.     На този ден християнската църква празнува влизането на Иисус Христос в Йерусалим  в дните преди еврейската Пасха. Според новозаветните евангелия Христос пристига в града, яздейки магaре, а вярващите го посрещат, като разстилат пред него дрехите си и маслинови клонки. На Цветница в църквата се отслужва молитва и се благославят върбови клонки. Те се раздават на вярващите и всеки ги отнася до дома си за здраве. Окичват с върбови клонки портите и се сплита венче от осветената в църквата върба. Върбовите клонки символизират палмовите — с които е бил посрещнат в Йерусалим Иисус Христос. В този ден, който е през периода на постите, се разрешава риба.
  На Цветница Имен ден празнуват всички, които носят имена на цветя и произлизащи от названия на растения: Аглика, Биляна, Божура, Виолета, Върба, Върбан, Върбинка, Гергин(а), Гроздан(к)а, Далия, Дафина, Делия, Делян(а), Дилян(а), Детелин(а), Елица, Елха, Жасмина, Здравка, Здравко, Зюмбюл(ка), Ива, Иглика, Калин(а), Камелия, Карамфил(к)а, Китка, Латинка, Лили, Лила, Лилия, Лиляна, Лора, Люлина, Маргарита, Малина, Нева, Невен(а),Незабравка, Ралица, Роза, Росен, Росица, Теменуга, Трендафил(ка), Фидан(к), Цвета, Цветан(а), Цветанка, Цветелин(а), Цветомир(а), Цветослав(а), Цвятко, Явор(а), Ясен(а), Ясмина и мн. др.
